Hello! I’m Selina Hsung-Chih Tseng.
‘Selina’ is the name my father gave me, hoping I would be like moonlight in the darkness — offering warmth to others. My Taiwanese given name, 璿 (Hsung), carries the meaning of jade: precious, pure, and sincere — a reflection of his wish for me to live with kindness and integrity.
I am a Taiwanese interdisciplinary performer, actor, artist, theatre-maker, and storyteller, shaped by a land of generosity, resilience, and quiet strength. My journey began with ballet, brushes, and books — movement, image, and story — each teaching me that art is a way of listening and responding, of breathing life into what is often overlooked.
Through performance, I repurpose everyday objects and invite them to speak. I’m drawn to the in-between: where memory becomes metaphor, where light finds its way through the cracks. Rooted in faith and inspired by hope, I create works that shimmer gently in the dark — inviting us to feel, remember, and connect.
“You are the light of the world… Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:14–16
